Led by a local guide | Natural unique |Largest Glacier in Europe | Small group
This tour starts with a 4×4 transfer from our base as we drive as close as we can to the tip to one of the outlet glaciers of the vast Vatnajökull ice cap.
We will commence on a hike through glacier moraines and upon the tip of the glacier. Here we will strap on crampons and have a short briefing before embarking up onto the ice. During this glacier hike, your guide will teach you about the geology, geography and history of the local area as well as point out some of the fascinating features of the ice.
This tour is designed for those looking for an in-depth glacier hike in Iceland. It is perfect for those who have been on a glacier before, or who enjoy long hikes or just looking for a bit of adventure!
The glacier surface and colour changes constantly depending on the time of year, features such as Moulins, caves and tunnels come and go. We will find different features to explore depending on the season, but one thing never changes; it is always an incredible experience glacier hiking in Iceland.
